Four Ways to Save Money On Your Wedding
The vast majority of couples are planning a wedding on a budget – whether that budget is ’shoestring’ or has some room to breathe, it’s safe to say that most people are looking for ways to save money on their big day. One good way to make the most of your wedding budget is to splurge on a few things that are most important to you and your fiancé, and then do your best to save money on the elements that don’t matter as much to you. There are definitely some ways to cut expenses, and since we go to more weddings in one year than most people go to in a lifetime, allow us to give you some tips!
Skip the favors
Wedding favors are left behind all the time. I can’t even count the number of times that I have seen the bridal party packing all of the leftover favors in a box at the end of the night! Our guess is that most people at your wedding won’t even notice there aren’t any. Save some money by leaving this detail out completely.
Have it on any day but Saturday
Most wedding vendors are happy to offer discounted services for weddings held on days other than Saturday – the most sought-after day of the week. Consider having your wedding on a Friday or a Sunday, and you’re sure to save! This works especially well If it’s a long weekend – a Sunday wedding will continue just as late as usual when guests don’t have to go to work on the following Monday.
Shop seasonal & local
This works best for both food and flowers. Its as simple as this: the further your ingredients and supplies need to travel, the more they’ll cost. When something is out of season your vendor will likely be able to get it for you, but if they have to ship it from halfway around the world, that will be reflected in the cost! Share your vision with your vendors, and then ask them to create something as similar as possible with items that are local and in season. When choosing the items and details that are less important to you, being flexible can save you lots of money. Keep your vision broad, especially when it comes to things like decor – there will always be lower-cost items if you’re willing to keep an open mind and especially if you’re willing to be creative!
